Before commencing his PhD, Owen completed the honours program at ANU. In his project he explored the production of class and masculinity in the post-Fordist context of management consultancy firms. For this project Owen received the Richard B. Davis prize for anthropology, awarded to the top anthropology honours student each year. 


Owen’s research focuses on the relationship between economic and environmental transformations. In his PhD, Owen will explore the changes to agriculture that have occurred in Argentina in recent years, and how they relate to economic innovations that are at once part of global trends and simultaneously distinctly Argentinian. 


Research Interests

Owen is interested in how labour, technologies, and environments are cross-cut by race, gender, and class.
