Thesis title: More than Rice Grain, More than Farmers: Rice Farming in Maguindanao, Philippines
My research explores the connection between the socio-political and cultural structure in Maguindanao , Philippines and the farmers’ performance in agriculture, specifically in the production of their staple crop – rice. It seeks to understand the reasons behind their existing subsistence-level way of life despite strong government support in agricultural development. Subsequently, this is linked to the cultural value of rice among Maguindanaon farmers.
